A Little Etsy Shopping Spree

A little Etsy shopping goes a long way! Thrilled to see more black and red 30s prints in the mix. The lovely fat eighth bundles are courtesy of LancTradFabrics (Lancaster Traditional Fabrics) on Etsy. I don't know about you, but these darker hues have really grown on me lately. I still love all the pastels, for sure, but it's nice to have a larger range of colors.

I'm on the hunt for more red, white & blue 30s prints for an upcoming project....a fabulous excuse to continue shopping when the mood strikes, don't you think?

More goodies were in the box, but I'm still working on photos. Ooooooh I miss 30s fabrics!
Hopefully, I can get a little time in the sewing room this evening or sometime this week (fingers crossed). It's been incredibly busy lately as I have a couple guys feeling under the weather. I hope that you're having a wonderful day.

Husqvarna Jade & Some Fabric Stash Goodies

The extension table arrived for my new Husqvarna Jade and I couldn't be more excited. The purchase also included piecing needles & multicolored bobbins. I cannot wait to dig into projects with this lovely machine.

I came across some Judie Rothermel (Oooh, she's my FAVORITE fabric designer ever!) fabrics recently and was thrilled to find some black prints. I haven't used 30s that read black in the Dear Jane yet and think I may have enough to incorporate them a bit in the finished quilt...more on that later.

I'm expecting a package soon of some 30s reproduction fabrics and the waiting is so difficult! Since Erica's in South Bend closed, I haven't been able to find a replacement shop. I've tried, believe me, but nothing is like Erica's. I think I'll have to take a drive on a sunny day out to Shipshewana soon to get some more basic supplies. Fingers crossed Yoders and Lolly's can meet some of my needs in person because online selections are limited.

I hope you're having a beautiful day.

A Long Lapse in Time

I know it's been a terribly long time since last posting. The first project off my list: a mask. It needs some work but for a sample and the chance to try to sew again, not terribly shabby.

The sewing room has sat dormant for a very long time. In the meantime, there has been a bit of an update and I'm looking forward to filling the new cubbies with some delicious fabrics very soon. If anyone has some leads on 30s reproduction prints --- I suppose they've fallen out of fashion but still love the bright fun colors and lovely little prints --- I'd appreciate your help. Dear Jane has popped back into my thoughts as of late. It's been so long, I've even considered making a second while putting the first together...just thoughts, no definite plans, mind you.

Final Touches

Tinsel made on the tree after all and a few "new" ornaments made it, too.

This week is flying by as I have a lot of school duties to attend to.
We're heading out to see Star Wars this afternoon for some mommy bonding time.

I can't wait!

I sincerely hope that this Christmas season brings you joy, beautiful memories, friendships rekindled and good health.

Best Wishes to you and yours from all of us at the fab household,
Heather

2015 is FLYING by!

I spent the time before Thanksgiving break organizing my classroom and bringing in a few Christmas decorations.  New pencils in winter designs and bling were a huge hit when we returned to class. I picked up another couple of classes in recent weeks so I am spending a lot of time preparing for classes these days. My posts will be few and far between as a result.

Munchkin has been a busy bee helping with the various mini trees and placing ornaments on the big tree this year! A few new ornaments arrived in the mail the other day and we ooooohed and aaahhhhed together in harmony. It's not quite finished yet but I had a few minutes available to post. We still have several cases of ornaments to look through and the heated debate over tinsel continues.

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas season and a very Happy New Year!
All my best,
Heather
