Butter Today, Danishes {probably not} Tomorrow

Today, I decided to try making butter.

I needed buttermilk for a new chicken recipe and usually rely on a quick substitute—milk with a splash of lemon juice. But this time, I had a quart of heavy cream on hand and my KitchenAid stand mixer ready to go, so I thought, why not?

It was so much fun.

I’m already looking forward to making more, especially to press flat in gallon freezer bags for lamination. Lamination for what, you might be wondering? Danishes, hopefully. Maybe some kringle. Possibly croissants—just for the experience.

Years ago, I made a couple of danish braids in cheesecake and cherry. They were both delicious and surprisingly pretty for a first attempt. Mr. Fabulous LOVES almond kringle, and it’s one of my favorites too, so that’s definitely on the to-do list.

Here’s to doing more of the things that make us happiest—and spreading that joy wherever we can.  Happy Prepping,  Heather
